Yep, I had a very short-sighted friend in SL when I started… Windlight fried his hardware quicker than a squirrel up a tree. [his avi was a squirrel] … and now we get endless info from picky artists about how they want their ‘art’ to be seen… great! Good job they don’t live in the real world where the weather gods do exactly what they want to someone’s installation.
And then there’s those of us who bite the bullet and get a brand-new computer (midsummer 2012), only to find its spiffy GPU is STILL not recognized by the Linden viewer 6 months later. So shadows are greyed out, Windlight or not, and depth of field is a far-off dream And the latest Firestorm viewer – perhaps a millimeter ahead – recognizes the new GPU but crashes going from High to Ultra in the new operating system, despite a 3-month-old jira thread. Go figure.
